Landfill Reclamation
Cities across the U.S are facing the deadline for meeting the new EPA regulations for landfill operations by 2010 that could shut down just about every landfill. The existing landfills do not meet the mandates set by the EPA. These need to be dealt with immediately to eliminate the daily Methane emission which is greater than the total CO2 emissions produced in cities industrial complexes. Methane is 50 times more harmful on global warming than CO2. Additionally, disease control issues are not currently being contained properly due to leaching landfills and each garbage truck uses 2 gallons to 3 gallons of fuel per mile in the pickup of trash.
Under the new EPA (
These EPA guidelines will have a direct effect
on the medical industry, especially hospital systems and medical
service facilities. Implementation of waste to energy facilities
will reduce the cost of hospital
operations by reducing bio-hazardous destruction cost 60%. New
mandates from both the EPA and the European Union would prevent
hospitals to receive any type of grants for construction, operation,
or research without implementing proper means of destruction.
(Incinerating and/or Fluidized Beds are not
acceptable methods for the destruction of Bio-Hazardous Wastes
according to EPA standards and other
International organizations’ policies).
This solution must:
-
Eliminate the need for incineration facilities and Pit Practices
- Reduce transportation costs
- Eventually process the currently deposited waste in the local
landfills
- Eliminate leaching problems and the discharge of Methane into the
atmosphere.
SOLUTION
Waste to energy, using Plasma Arc Reactor facilities, consumes local Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Hazardous Waste (HZW) from industrial complexes and Bio-Hazardous waste (BHZW) from hospitals. The process produces Syngas as the primary product which converts to electricity, Hi Grade Methanol, diesel, or Naphtha which converts to gasoline. These end products will be used by the local refineries as additives to boost refined products’ quality levels. This reduces pollution and eliminates importing costs associated with these additives.
Syngas also complements the presence of raw material feed stock for petrochemical facilities and creates strong possibilities for new manufacturing plants in the city’s industrial complex.
The main advantages of building these facilities are:
-
No further need for Landfills,
Consume previously deposited wastes in the landfill,
Eliminate the practice of pre-recycling the wastes
Reduce the Emissions from existing landfills
Stop the Leaching into the underground water system,
Prevent the Leakage into the Ship Channel,
Reduce the high cost of Waste management
Until recently, no feasible solution has existed for waste such as Tires, Refrigerators, Mattresses, and plastic or e-waste. A Plasma Arc Reactor will not only solve these problems forever, it accomplishes it efficiently. Huge cost savings are also achieved as it eliminates sorting, incineration and landfill operations.
With respect to gasification systems, a Plasma Arc Reactor is the best method for gasification compared to all other systems due to it’s:
-
Ease of operation,
-
Low cost of operation
-
High return on gasification
-
Clean, non- polluting operations, 0% residuals
-
Every byproduct is 100% marketable and useable.
Our system has a track record of over 27 years.
The US Government has been the primary user of our technologies and
has proven it superior to all other technologies in the market when
dealing with waste destruction or refining crude oil to produce
hi-end carbon based products.
While our facilities are fit to receive MSW, HZW and BHZW as their primary feed stocks, they will also be able to receive other Carbon Based products as a secondary or mixture and/or alternative feed stock. Alternative Carbon based products are heavy Crude Oil, sludge, Asphalt like Products, Sand Tar, Oil Shale, Recycled motor oil and cooking oil, etc.
DuTemp MSW to Energy
- Eliminate the need for incineration facilities and Pit Practices
- Reduce transportation costs
- Eventually process the currently deposited waste in the local
landfills
- Eliminate leaching problems and the discharge of Methane into the
atmosphere.
